DCSD Heat Protocol for Summer Camp
Heat Exhaustion is a very real thing and is taken seriously. We have a Med. Tent set up next to the field to deal with anything from a blister to more serious issues. We keep student forms in a binder in the tent along with a fully stocked first aid kit, Gatorade, water, fans, cooling cloths, etc. The students are on the field in the morning and in sectionals (inside) after lunch. They return to the field about 4:30pm and the temperature and humidity is monitored and recorded every thirty minutes. The band breaks for water and rest at the recommended frequency as dictated in the DCSD protocols.
After School Rehearsals:
Mondays, 4:00-6:30 pm
Tuesdays, 4:00-6:30 pm
Thursdays, 4:30-7:00 pm
Friday Night Games:
Stay at school from afternoon dismissal through the game.
No Friday game = NO practice. Go home at dismissal time on those Fridays.
Saturday Night Games:
Call time to be determined.
These non-refundable fees cover nearly all costs of participation in marching band, including:
A professional score, drill, and design for our halftime show
Professional sectional instructors for camp and practices
Uniform rental and cleaning
Meals provided before games and competitions and dinner during band camp
Transportation to specific away games and competitions
The fees can be paid all at once, due May 23.
If you prefer to pay in increments, we suggest the following schedule:
Initial payment of $150 due by May 23 (critical)
The Band director starts planning the Fall show before summer starts, this initial payment is necessary to cover the cost of the score, drill, and design, and gets the band ready for summer camp.
Second payment of $150 due July 1
Third payment of $150 due August 1
Final payment of $150 due September 1
If you need to set up a different payment schedule or would like to set up an auto draft, please contact our treasurer (info below)
For payment questions, contact Rob Tanzola.
All instrumentalists need to purchase their own Marching Band shoes.
There are many gently used shoes available for free. When we are fitting your child for their uniform, they can see if we have some shoes they can use.
If you prefer new shoes or if your child has a shoe size that is not available in the used shoes, we can place an order. We will make sure you have that information during band camp. We will place our order as a group, to save on shipping. Orders are due by July 28, 2024.
$52 for orders placed BEFORE July 28.
$72 for orders placed AFTER July 28 (includes additional shipping cost)
Shoes are available in both Men's and Women's sizes Medium and Wide.
We will enable links here when it is time to order shoes.
If you have any questions about your order or payment, please contact Lori Thompson.
The band's mission is to create a fun and competitive performing and social experience for high school students interested in music and performance.
